What are the different generations of the drive system?
Currently, there are two different generations. Upon market entry, the P100 system with the P100 motor was introduced. This was used for e-bikes up to and including the 2023 model year (i.e., LTD). For the 2024 model year, the P101 was introduced. Fundamentally, the two generations differ technically:
1. Transition from the spline to the international ISIS crank standard.
2. Change in software communication language from PLC (Power Line Communication) to CAN.
3. More slots for additional assistance systems.
4. New design of the motor and markings.
In terms of riding technology, both motor generations are identical.
Are there different versions of each model in 2024?
Yes, there are three versions of the three models "Trekking 7", "Mountain 7" and "Mountain 7 Carbon", which differ in terms of components, design and price. These three versions have the same designation on all models:
The "Long Range" version is always the entry-level model for all models.
It is always designed for maximum range and cost efficiency. The motor is limited to a maximum
torque of 80Nm, which is
more than enough for most applications. The equipment is a perfect balance between function and
cost. The frames have clean but visible welds and are painted in one color. The price is always
the cheapest of the three versions.
The "Performance" version forms the mid-range for all models.
With 90Nm maximum torque of the motor, they are above average powerful and dynamic. The equipment
is upscale and identical to
the Ultra models on the Trekking 7 and Mountain 7, except for the motor power and battery
capacity. The transitions to the frames of the Mountain 7 and Trekking 7 models are seamlessly
sanded and the frames are painted in two tones. The price is always the middle price and is
between the other two versions.
The "Ultra" version is always the top model for all models.
With 100Nm maximum torque of the motor, it marks the highest motor power and dynamics, with
the 804Wh batteries the highest capacity. The equipment is upscale and is identical to the
performance versions on the Trekking 7 and Mountain 7. The transitions to the frames of the
Mountain 7 and Trekking 7 models are seamlessly sanded and the frames are painted in two tones.
The price is always the highest of the three versions.
What is the maximum range of the HEPHA battery between 804Wh and 708Wh?
This is laboratory value and currently the only way to make a reasonably reliable statement. There is currently no standardized measurement method (like the WLTP standard in the automotive industry).
708Wh: If someone (approximately 65 kg) rides a HEPHA E-Bike, they can travel up to 200 km in ECO mode on a full charge (708 Wh). The maximum range in TOUR mode is 137 km, and in TURBO mode, it is 120 km.
804Wh: If someone (approximately 65 kg) rides a HEPHA E-Bike, they can travel up to 250 km in ECO mode on a full charge (804 Wh). The maximum range in TOUR mode is 180 km, and in TURBO mode, it is 150 km.
However, this is only an approximation. We were able to achieve this range in many field tests. Please note, however, that factors such as terrain (hilly/mountainous) and weather (strong winds) can have a significant impact on the achievable distance.
In what assembly condition are HEPHA bikes delivered?
Your e-bike is 99% pre-assembled and ready to ride after a few simple steps. You only need to install the pedals and the display, and adjust the stem.
How do I choose the right frame size?
Each product page is equipped with a size chart. Please refer to the size chart before selecting your size.
Note: We generally recommend choosing the size based on your height. If your height falls between two sizes, we suggest opting for the larger size.
Size chart for the Trekking series.
Size chart for the Mountain series.
The maximum permissible weight
The maximum permissible weight of HEPHA Trekking 7 LTD and Trekking 7 SE is 130 kg, including the e-bike, the rider, and any luggage.
The maximum permissible weight of HEPHA Trekking 7, HEPHA Mountain 7, and Carbon 7 is 150 kg, including the e-bike, the rider, and any luggage.
Some advice on attaching the trailer
The thru-axle coupling of the Trekking 7 is 174 mm long and the thru-axle coupling of the Mountain 7 is 180 mm long. If you want to mount a trailer, you will need a longer axle. For example, one with a length of 179 mm for Trekking 7 and 185 mm for Mountain 7.
However, the exact length depends on the length of the trailer coupling, so we recommend that you also clarify and confirm this with the trailer seller.
Please ensure before purchasing a trailer that the trailer seller can assist you with the installation. HEPHA itself does not offer a trailer installation service.
Note: The permissible maximum total weight of the LTD model is 130 kg, and the permissible maximum total weight of the new 2024 model is 150 kg (including the weight of the e-bike, the person, the trailer, and the load). The weight of the e-bike is approximately 27 kg.
The full-suspension mountain bike (Carbon 7) does not support trailer coupling.

I had a warranty claim and had it repaired by a non-HEPHA dealer. What do I do with the invoice?
In such a case, please send us a scan of the repair invoice as well as a brief description of the damage. We will then take care of the processing or refund of the invoice amount. As a general rule, please always talk to us beforehand. This is the only way to correctly qualify the damage and thus guarantee a regulated process.
Important Care Tips for New HEPHA Owners
- Keep Your Bike Clean
- One of the most important things to keep your bike in good condition for a long time is to keep it clean. Preventing dirt from settling will ensure that the moving parts run smoothly and quietly over time.
- Regular maintenance and cleaning do not take much time:
- If you ride through dirty ground, let your bike dry and then remove the dirt with a large, soft brush.
- Occasionally, give your bike a wash with water and soap – the control unit and motor housing are waterproof.
- The charging port can be cleaned with some contact spray and an old toothbrush.
- Do not use a high-pressure washer, as it also removes the "good" grease from the bike.
- Clean your chain before oiling it.
Could you please provide me with a maintenance checklist?
Unfortunately, we must inform you that there is currently no specific maintenance checklist available for you. However, a basic maintenance package from a repair shop should meet your needs.
Mid-drive motor
Is the HEPHA e-bike system waterproof?
Yes, the HEPHA e-bike system is waterproof under normal riding conditions, including heavy rain. Please do not use a high-pressure cleaner to wash your bike.
Can I adjust my HEPHA mid-drive motor to increase the speed limit of the pedal assist?
Due to strict legal regulations for e-bikes, it is neither allowed nor recommended to make changes to the speed of your HEPHA e-bike. These regulations exist to prevent dangerous situations.
What drive system do you install in your e-bikes?
Unlike other manufacturers who use third-party drive systems, we use our own drive system.
Where and for how long was the system developed?
The HEPHA P100 drive system was developed by a team of around 100 engineers over 5 years until it was ready for series production. All components were developed in-house.
Who needs that much engine power?
Many believe that an e-bike with a strong drive system is difficult to control and therefore dangerous. However, the opposite is true. When cycling, riding stability is mainly due to the rotational gyro stability of the wheels, and this needs a certain speed to stabilize the e-bike and rider. And this is exactly what is a real challenge, especially for insecure or physically weaker drive systemrs. This can be seen in the lurching driving style, for example when starting off at traffic lights with one gear that is too large, starting off with a load and children or starting off on a hill. This can be dangerous, especially in city traffic, as well as in tight situations where the drive system has to drive system quickly out of the intersection.
This is where a high-torque drive system can be of great help, as it accelerates the rider faster to the necessary speed for a stable ride. In addition, a strong drive system leaves enough reserves when it comes to getting out of dangerous situations. Torque does not necessarily mean speed, but rather rapid acceleration up to cruising speed or stable starting when loaded. And last but not least, a powerful engine always means extra driving pleasure.
How significant is the difference between 80, 90Nm and 100Nm?
The higher the torque, the greater the motor support and the easier the ride (e.g. uphill). Different torque means different motor power. The greater the torque, the greater the power. If your road is relatively flat, you can choose 80 Nm. If you frequently ride uphill, you can select 100 Nm.
When climbing, the E-bike Long Range 80nm has a greater range than the E-bike Ultra 100nm, and the E-bike Ultra 100nm is easier to ride than the E-bike Long Range 80nm
Will the e-bike brake suddenly when the speed exceeds 25 km/h?
The legislation permits bicycles with an electric nominal power that does not exceed 25 km/h. Therefore, we cannot sell e-bikes that surpass this limit. It is a regulation that all e-bikes must not exceed a motor power of 25 km/h. When the speed reaches 25 km/h, the motor assistance stops. But don't worry, your e-bike will not come to an immediate halt. It will gradually and smoothly reduce speed. At this point, you will need to use your own strength to control the speed.
Is there resistance when riding without assistance?
There is a freewheel mechanism in the motor. When the motor turns off, there is no resistance from the motor. If you suspect any resistance, please switch to the "OFF mode" and start riding from 0 km/h. You can also ride the bike very easily without assistance – we use a mid-drive motor, which allows you to ride the bike just like any other non-e-bike.
Does the HEPHA E-Bike support the "walk" mode?
Yes. There are 4 assistance modes. All settings (except Walk) provide support up to 25 km/h. In "Walk mode," the bike moves at 6 km/h.
- TURBO: Full support for maximum boost and effortless climbing.
- TOUR: Automatically adjusts the support level based on pedal pressure.
- ECO: Reliable support for long trips.
- WALK: Assists you when you need to dismount and push your bike.
What does "torque" mean and what is a "Newton meter"?
The term torque describes the force applied by a lever during a rotation. Imagine a wrench. The longer it is, the more force you generate at the same pressure. Conversely, the longer the lever, the less force they need. This is where the term Newton meter comes from: this is a technical parameter that indicates how much torque the engine has to apply in order to hold a Newton (roughly equivalent to the weight force of a body of 102 grams – about the weight of a typical bar of chocolate) attached to a 1-meter long lever. In the case of the HEPHA P100, this would correspond to the weight force of 10.2kg. Imagine a filled watering can at the end of a one-meter-long stick that you now have to hold with only one hand at the other end of the stick. So you can see how much power that is.
What is the rated continuous power of 250W?
The rated continuous power on e-bike motors indicates the maximum continuous power that the motor can deliver over longer periods of riding without risking overheating or damage. This value is measured in watts and is legally set at 250W. It is different from the peak power, which is the short-term maximum power of the engine and is not regulated by law!
Battery & Charger
Which cells do you use in the battery?
We use quality cells from LG or Samsung, both well-known suppliers to the automotive or consumer goods industries. We use the new cell standard 21700 for all batteries, which is also used in practically all modern electric vehicles.
Is the battery removable?
Yes, the battery is positioned in the tube in the middle of the frame and can be easily removed with a key.
If you wish, you can charge the battery independently.
Long-term Storage of the Battery.
Store the battery indoors in a cool location with a consistent temperature between 10°C and 20°C.
Protect it from direct sunlight and rain.
Charge the battery to approximately 70% before storing it.
Recharge the battery to approximately 70% every six months.
Fully charge the battery before the next use.
Does pedaling recharge the battery?
No. Pedaling does not recharge the battery.
Do the display and lights still work when the battery is empty?
Yes. When riding with an empty battery, the pedal assist no longer functions, but there is still enough residual energy for the journey home to keep the display and lights operating. You can set the display brightness to 75% or 100%.
My battery cannot be charged, what should I do?
If the battery is being charged while attached to the bike frame, we recommend removing the battery and charging it separately. A battery that has not been used for an extended period will initially charge slowly. As long as the indicator light on the charger is yellow, you should continue charging until the battery is fully charged. If the indicator light on the charger does not illuminate, the charger might be defective.
Why can't my battery be updated?
When updating the battery, both the display and the battery must be charged to more than 50%.
Please charge both the display and the battery. After charging, you can try updating the battery again.
Why does the red light on the battery continue to stay on while charging?
It is normal for the right light to always be on. When all the green lights have gone out (the red light is still on), it is time to charge the battery.
Display
Can I connect a smartphone to the Trekking 7 via a USB port?
Yes, you can connect a smartphone to the Trekking 7 via a USB port.
User Manual for the Display
Please click here and download the user manual for the display that matches your e-bike model.
Why won't my display turn on?
For the first use or after long periods of non-use, the display and the battery need to be charged. Over time, the display's battery may become depleted. Please charge the display via the TYPE-C port for at least four hours.
Why is my estimated range lower?
Our estimated remaining range is based on your previous riding conditions. If your previous riding conditions were under higher load, the estimated remaining range will be lower. This estimation is calculated in real-time and continuously updates with changes in riding conditions. However, the default remaining range is calculated under standard conditions, and you can use this as a reference.
The estimated range is updated based on the remaining battery level. The range is not calculated when the battery level is above 95%; once the battery level drops below 95%, the range is calculated for every 3% decrease in battery level.
If you notice that the range remains the same after fully charging or resetting the data, it is because these actions do not reset the range to its default value but rather store the range data. Therefore, the data still shows the range before the reset.
We will continue to optimize the range calculation method. Once the optimization is complete, you can perform an upgrade through the app.
Why does my display turn off?
The display automatically turns off after a period of inactivity, similar to a mobile phone.
If the display shows "Add new component," what can I do?
Please remove the battery and reinsert it. Then turn on the e-bike and update the motor software again.
HEPHA APP
How can I connect the app with my E-Bike?
Please follow the steps below:
1. The display should be mounted on the bike and turned on. The bike must be added to the app account, and the phone must be near the bike.
2. The following smartphone permissions must be allowed for the app: "Bluetooth", "Nearby Device", "Location". The "GPS" and "Bluetooth" functions should be turned on.
3. The "Connection" option on the display should be activated.
4. The Bluetooth connection will be automatically established by the app. After successfully establishing the connection, "HEPHA EBIKE P100" will NOT appear in the phone's Bluetooth settings. This means you do not need to manually pair the bike in the phone's Bluetooth settings. If you have manually paired it, "HEPHA EBIKE P100" will be listed in the Bluetooth settings, then please click on it to disconnect.
5. Restart the bike, smartphone, and HEPHA app.

The language of the HEPHA app is usually set to the default language of your phone system. To change the language of the app, follow the steps below.
1. Please click on the Settings button.
2. Click on 'App Language', and then you can select the language you want.
Can navigation be conducted through the app?
We regret to inform you that our display currently does not have GPS navigation and therefore cannot show a map on the display. Thank you for your suggestion. We are working on it and you will be able to receive it through a software update in the future.
How can I adjust motor assistance?
Please click on "Settings", then you can adjust motor assistance.
Why is the ride data in the app inaccurate?
This may be due to incomplete data upload. There are two conditions for uploading data:
1. The network is normal.
2. The app is connected to your E-Bike.
If you do not connect the HEPHA app to your E-Bike during a ride, data cannot be uploaded. When the ride is over and the HEPHA app is connected to the E-Bike, the ride data will be automatically synchronized to the app. The upload speed is affected by the network and Bluetooth transmission rate. The longer the ride, the longer it takes for the data to reach the app when uploaded. Generally, it takes about 5-8 minutes to upload data from a 1-hour ride.
Therefore, we recommend the following:
1. Ensure that the HEPHA app is connected to your HEPHA e-bike before each ride.
2. Wait a few minutes at the end of the ride to ensure that all ride data is fully uploaded to your HEPHA app.
Why does a white dot appear next to the firmware upgrade instead of a red dot?
The white dot appears because you have not connected the e-bike to the HEPHA app. Please keep your e-bike connected to the app during the update.
Is the HEPHA app mandatory for the operation of a HEPHA e-bike?
No, the HEPHA app is not mandatory. However, we recommend using it, as it offers a lot of practical functions, such as updating the firmware or adjusting the drive to your needs.
Does the HEPHA app cost anything?
The HEPHA app is free!
How do I install the HEPHA app?

Where can I find the QR code to connect the e-bike to the app?
For LTD models (e.g. identifiable by the detachable display) you will find this QR code as a sticker on the back of the instructions for use. For e-bike models from model year 2024 onwards, you will find this QR code directly in the display under "Settings > App Connect". You can also contact us to this email: service@HEPHA.com for the QR code.
Will the new buyer be able to see my data when they connect their app to the bike?
The driving data displayed in the app is all connected from your account. A third-party account does not have access to your data. The only exceptions are any driving data stored in the display but not yet transmitted to the app. When a new user connects to the e-bike, this ride data is transferred to their app. However, this is anonymous data and not personal information.
How do I update the firmware?
To do this, open the HEPHA app and, if you haven't already, connect it to the bike. Please make sure that the e-bike has a Bluetooth connection with your smartphone.
- In the app, tap on "Settings" (small gear icon at the bottom of the navigation) and scroll down. There you will find the list of the respective components.
- If you find a small red dot to the right of the component name, then an update is available for that component.
- To update the firmware, simply tap on the dot and follow the instructions.
- Please make sure that the connected smartphone is close to the e-bike during the download as well as the installation phase and has enough battery life and the smartphone has stable internet access.
- If there is no red dot next to the component, then this component is up-to-date. You don't have to do anything else.
Is there any help in the app?
Yes, the HEPHA app offers some important functionalities for the service: explanations and step-by-step instructions for errors or malfunctions of the drive system to try to fix them independently. For example, malfunctions in the system are not displayed in cryptic error codes as usual, but the system gives you direct solutions to repair the damage in interaction with the HEPHA app. In addition, users can also update the firmware on their own or reset it in the event of a software error.
Why is the difference in support between the ECO mode and the TOUR mode not so noticeable?
When riding evenly on flat terrain, the rolling resistance is low, and so is the pedaling force. Therefore, the difference in support between the ECO and TOUR modes is not very noticeable. However, there is a greater difference between these two modes when starting the bike and riding uphill.
Additionally, each person's weight and leg strength are different, so the default factory settings may not necessarily suit everyone. If you feel that the difference between the ECO and TOUR modes is insufficient, we recommend adjusting the maximum torque and support level of the respective modes through the app.
What is the Phone key?
Feature Introduction: By setting a private password, you can disable motor assistance. Only you can restart motor assistance.
Feature Setup: Please connect to the HEPHA App, go to the settings page, enable the Phone Key feature, and set a 3-digit password. The Phone Key feature will then be activated.
Unlock Method 1: When turning on the display, enter the 3-digit password to unlock.
Unlock Method 2: Log in to the HEPHA App, connect the app to your e-bike, and it will automatically unlock.
I'm selling my e-bike. What do I have to do in the app?
If you are selling your e-bike, please follow these steps:
- Open the HEPHA app
- Tap on the small bike icon in the bottom menu bar
- Select the bike you want to delete
- Tap on "Delete" and confirm the deletion process
Now the e-bike is no longer connected to your account, the new owner can now connect it to their HEPHA account in turn.
I can't pair my smartphone with the e-bike because it seems that another account is already connected to the e-bike. What can I do?
You can add as many bikes as you want to your account. However, an e-bike can only be connected to one account. Therefore, the user who has already connected to the bike must delete this connection. If you have no influence on this, please contact service@HEPHA.com. When connecting a new bike, the display stops at 20% and the app writes that the connection failed.

If, despite the above attempts, it is still not possible to establish a connection between the app and the e-bike, please contact us directly if you have not already done so. Please have the following information ready:
- The frame number of your e-bike
- The QR code to connect the e-bike to the smartphone (on models with a removable display, on the back of the manual, on models with non-removable displays, in the settings > App Connect).
- Ideally, please photograph both.
- As well as the e-mail address of your HEPHA account
Why are the settings all gray and can't be changed?

About HEPHA(Brand/Company)
Are you a German company?
Yes, our headquarters are in Maisach. We design, develop and assemble our products in Germany. What we do have, however, is an international team.
Are you a start-up?
We are a young company. However, we do not follow the "classic" start-up concept. Rather, we are a good mix of the dynamism of an ambitious company with the rules of the market. We are a company foundation in the best classical sense. Behind us is a solid owner-managed medium-sized company.
What does Guido Tschugg do for you?
Guido is a test rider and helps with the development of the sporty e-bikes. In this way, he passes on his many years of experience in mountain biking as well as in e-bikes to our development department and tests new geometries and kinematics.
Guido Tschugg is only paid to ride your bikes, right?
No, it's different from us. There are, in fact, such situations when well-known drivers are paid to drive the brand's products. These are called testimonials or brand ambassadors. However, we do not believe in such cooperations. Guido Tschugg is actually an active part consultant of product management and development.
What's so special about HEPHA?
We make quality, design and performance (i.e. high-performance e-bikes) affordable. We think that everyone should be able to afford a good e-bike. This makes us quite unique in the market. We have our own, powerful and efficient drive system that is only available from us. In addition, we assemble all our e-bikes in Germany.
What's your phone number?
If you are an end customer and would like to have questions about the products, help with product selection, the delivery status of a bike you have already purchased, change or cancel an order or need for all service and warranty cases, please dial +49(0) 8142-284448-0.
If you are already a HEPHA dealer or would like to become one, please dial +49(0) 8142-284448-1.
What are you doing for the environment?
Our vehicle fleet consists largely of electric vehicles. Our factory building is state-of-the-art. Assembly in Germany avoids the usual shipping of complete bikes in boxes, which can usually only be shipped in containers via ship. We avoid transporting components by ship to rail as much as possible.
Probably our most important contribution to environmental protection, however, is to make high-quality e-bikes accessible to as many people as possible through a clever pricing strategy. This not only makes them physically active, in many cases they leave the car at home. That's why we also build e-bikes, because together with others we make an important contribution to a turnaround towards clean mobility.
What do you do with the batteries at the end of its life?
Defective batteries are recycled in Germany through a separate, legally regulated take-back system. According to Section 8 of the Battery Act, manufacturers and dealers are obliged to take back e-bike batteries free of charge. The used batteries are then handed over to specialized disposal companies. This means that the batteries are transferred to specialist companies that recycle them professionally or dispose of elements that can no longer be used. For this purpose, HEPHA is registered in the Foundation for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Register (Stiftung ear).
Can I take a look at the production?
Yes, you are welcome to visit us at any time and take a look at the production or test ride bikes. We are also happy to advise visitors on our e-bikes. The opening hours are <[see opening hours].
