Test Success: HEPHA Trekking 8 Performance Shines in the 2026 E-Bike Test
We’ve done it again. And this time, we’ve done even better. In the 2026 E-Bike Test by ElektroRad – Europe’s most comprehensive pedelec comparison test, featuring 88 pedelec models and over 120 test parameters – our new HEPHA Trekking 8 Performance impressed the jury: The grade “very good” (1.6) and the coveted Best Value Award go to Maisach. An award that, according to ElektroRad’s own description, is only given to e-bikes that offer a particularly attractive overall package in their price class.
The fact that we have once again succeeded in winning this distinction makes us proud—and confirms what HEPHA has been all about from the very beginning: maximum quality at a fair price.

What sets the Trekking 8 Performance apart – and what the testers say
ElektroRad described the Trekking 8 Performance as a “successful hybrid” – an e-trekking bike that strikes a balance between a lightweight bike and a full-power pedelec, creating a harmonious and interesting blend. That’s pretty much spot on.
Visually, the testers were immediately struck by the appealing design with harmoniously rounded tubes and a matte gray finish that underscores its modern look. The motor is neatly integrated into the bottom bracket, the charging port is conveniently positioned high up, and the battery can be easily removed from the top – small details that make a big difference in everyday use. The MIK-HD rack, approved for child seats up to 27 kilograms, the Schwalbe G-One Overland tires, and the comfort-oriented riding position provided by the multi-adjustable stem and the wide, slightly drop handlebars also received special praise.

On the road, the Trekking 8 proved to be a stable, pleasantly controllable bike with a high level of safety and smooth ride quality—even with heavy luggage. The 80-mm air suspension fork provides additional comfort on uneven terrain. According to the test report, the combination of the 10-speed Shimano Cues drivetrain and the HEPHA P110 motor with 100 Nm was particularly impressive: In Tour mode, the drive system provides smooth, even assistance without being intrusive; in Turbo mode, it delivers more power – but always in a well-controlled manner, with smooth transitions when engaging and disengaging. The testers described the power delivery as refined rather than brute force. The hydraulic Shimano disc brakes with 180-mm rotors front and rear provide reliable stopping power that’s well-suited to the bike’s intended use.
The testers’ conclusion: a well-thought-out, everyday-friendly riding experience with excellent balance. Their only criticism was that the front mudguards were a bit short – otherwise, there was nothing to complain about in terms of design, weight, the rack, or the charging port.
Value-for-money tip: What that really means
According to ElektroRad, bikes receive the Value for Money Award when they offer a particularly attractive overall package within their price range. The Trekking 8 Performance is available for 2,999 euros and delivers first-class, well-rounded features for that price. This result shows that the philosophy behind the Generation 8 is paying off. Lightweight, full motor power, and a complete set of features at affordable prices. This is no coincidence, but the result of consistent development work.

A success story continues
Anyone who has known HEPHA for a while knows: test ratings and awards are nothing new to us. The Trekking 7 has repeatedly earned “best value for money” recommendations in tests, the Trekking 8 received the prestigious EUROBIKE Award 2025 – and now the new generation is bringing home the next award.
