Strong as Goliath, light as David: Generation 8
With the Generation 8 models, HEPHA is ushering in a new era of lightweight full-performance e-bikes: The full power of regular e-bikes meets the low weight of light-assist bikes. The result is lightweight e-bikes for the city, everyday use, and tours with powerful 100-Nm drives. Powerful, light, and affordable!
Why we developed the lightweight Generation 8 e-bikes
Conventional e-bikes are becoming heavier - many consumers are therefore looking for lighter alternatives. Although there are now light e-bikes, these usually come with significant compromises. They usually achieve their low weight only by cutting out certain things:
- Less engine power (e.g. small Light-Assist motors)
- Reduced range (due to weak battery capacity)
- Limited comfort (often without suspension fork)
- Less functionality (e.g. permanently installed battery, reduced features)
In addition, many light models use components and systems that were originally developed for sporty use – and therefore are not ideally suited for touring or everyday use. Light-Assist e-bikes have not been able to establish themselves in the market so far – despite the clearly increasing demand for lightweight yet fully-featured e-bikes.
The concept: Lightweight e-bikes with full power
The new Generation 8 is positioned exactly between light-assist bikes and classic e-bikes. For the first time, it combines the two previously separate poles: the full power and functionality of e-bikes with the low weight of light ones. So, riders don't have to compromise on comfort, ergonomics, or functionality. This makes the HEPHA Generation 8 the blueprint for a new generation, showing that powerful e-bikes can also be light.
Our powerhouse: the HEPHA P110 engine
For Generation 8, we rely on the new P110 engine, which is lightweight, powerful, and uncompromisingly efficient. With a weight of only 2.85 kg, the compact mid-engine delivers impressive 110 Nm and in boost mode, even 120 Nm peak torque with 850 Watt maximum electrical power. In combination with the low total weight of our e-bikes, this results in an outstanding power-to-weight ratio of max. 5.5 Nm per kilogram – a value that can currently be considered a benchmark in the touring and trekking segment.
The Generation 8 e-bikes handle curves as agile and controlled as conventional bicycles – and offer convincing dynamic and lively support when starting. In addition to this new, smooth riding experience, the bikes’ low overall weight also makes them easier to handle in everyday situations – such as when loading them onto a car rack or carrying them up stairs.
Especially compared to e-bikes, the difference becomes noticeable:
Especially for older people, the low weight makes a crucial difference: Where heavy e-bikes can quickly induce uncertainty in tricky situations, light models provide a natural sense of control and confidence. This results in more riding pleasure and a significantly higher sense of safety in everyday life.
Generation 8 models: starting at 21.9 kg
The significant weight reduction of Generation 8 is the result of targeted, intelligent optimizations. However, we didn't start with the drive unit as usual, but reduced the weight through a smart selection of particularly light components. We were able to achieve noticeable savings through air suspension forks or lighter tires, for example. However, we made the greatest progress in frame weight: Compared to Generation 7, we were able to save almost 1.5 kg.
The result:
The Generation 8 Trekking and City e-bikes are on average about 30% lighter than traditional e-bikes. This corresponds to a weight saving of about 6 kg – roughly equivalent to a full water bucket or a medicine ball. A weight that riders no longer have to move, lift, or push – and that makes a positive difference in every day-to-day situation
Smaller battery, but still full range
All models of Generation 8 are equipped with our new 600-Wh battery, which is conveniently removable from the top. It is the heart of our Multi-Charge-Ride concept, where longer tours are cleverly combined with charging breaks. Instead of a large battery, we focus on strategically placed recharge moments – such as during a well-deserved break in a cafe or during lunch on the tour.
To ensure that recharging is uncomplicated at any time, we deliver a compact 6A fast charger as standard: it weighs only 635 grams, is dust and splash-resistant (IP65), and fits comfortably into any bag – ideal for on the go. However, if you still want more range, we offer the new HEPHA Range-Doubler as an option, which can double the total capacity to up to 1200 Wh. At 499 Euro RRP, this is a price that other manufacturers often charge for an additional 250 Wh battery.

Frame & Design of Generation 8 in Detail
- The silhouette of Generation 8 appears slim, sporty and dynamic.
- The significantly sloping top tube optimizes the standover height.
- Additionally, in combination with the distinctively offset rear section of the High-Step frame, it gives the bikes an unmistakable, powerful line.
- Reduced pipe diameters create elegant proportions that further slim down the overall image – modern, technical and at the same time light in expression.
- The frame transitions are seamless, typical of HEPHA, so that the frame appears to be made from a single piece.
- The discreet graphics and tasteful colors, along with the velvet-matte surfaces, emphasize the character of the frame.
- A 9 cm lower step-through on the Low-Step variants compared to Generation 7.
7 e-bikes in the trekking, city and urban categories starting at 2,399 Euro
We believe that everyone should be able to afford a lightweight e-bike. Therefore, following our philosophy, we have put together attractive packages for trekking, city and urban e-bikes.
With the new Generation 8, we are specifically addressing the mobility and urban areas – where the demand for lightweight, everyday-ready e-bikes is steadily growing and has been hardly addressed so far.
Trekking 8 - three models from 21.9 kg
With the Trekking 8, we present three lightweight, versatile all-round e-bikes for everyday use and tours. There are three models with derailleur gearing starting at 2,699 Euros in the two frame variants High-Step or Low-Step.
City 8 - two models in four colors
The City 8 is available as a convenient worry-free bike for everyday use in two variants starting from 22.3 kg. In the performance model, we combine a hub gear with a low-maintenance belt drive. The Long Range version is exclusively available with a low-entry frame.
Urban 8 - two sporty, dynamic models
With the Urban 8, we are entering the forward-thinking segment of urban bikes for the first time – light, dynamic and consistently geared towards modern mobility. The two models combine a sporty-minimalist look with the performance and versatility of classic e-bikes. The Ultra version also relies on innovative theft protection.
